Recovering from Vet Visits

Attention all pet owners we cannot accept any pets recovering from recent medical procedures such as surgery, stitches, open or bandaged wounds or any pets requiring the use of an Elizabethan Collar.

These pets should be boarded with a veterinarian.  Please inform Fon Jon Petcare Center of any other medical needs your pet may have when making reservations.  Pets that have been spayed cannot be boarded until 3 weeks after the surgery.

Toys And Bedding

You are welcome to bring in toys or bedding in for your pet with the understanding that there is the possibility that it may not come back in the same condition. It can be destroyed or disposed of when you return. Also, please understand that your dog will behave in a different way when he is away from home, so he might tear or completely destroy his bedding or toys. Furthermore, during the morning we are on a very tight schedule to clean the kennel and to exercise all the dogs and cats, so it is difficult to find toys or bones which the dog has buried in his bedding. Please make sure that you put either your last name or your pet's name on the toy or blanket you bring.

Food

We take care of the feeding. We feed once a day. The type of food we feed is Iams Lamb & Rice dry mixed with warm water. Most dogs do not have any problem eating our food, but if your dog is on a special diet or is a finicky eater, you are welcome to bring in your own brand of food. People often ask us if they get a discount if they bring in their own food, but actually it is more time consuming to feed special diets than it is to feed our own food. There are some kennels that will charge extra to feed special diets; in our case we will do it for free. If you want your dog to be fed twice a day, just let the receptionist know and we will take care of it. Treats are welcome. It is your own responsibility to make sure that all the articles which you bring in have your last name or your pet's name on them.

Medication

If your dog is on medication you need to bring in written instructions on how it should be given, how often and what it is for. We cannot give injections of any kind. We can give medication one to three times a day. We charge $1.00 per medication for each time administered. Please let the front office know if you brought enough medication for your pet's complete stay.

In order for us to provide better service we ask for your cooperation. Due to our busy schedule, it is impossible for us to accept walk-ins. We ask that you call in advance and make an appointment.

Attention!!!!
To all pet owners that choose to enroll your pets in interactive play programs, such as group play, roam play or daycare. Please be aware that these are fast paced, rigorous play situations ,somewhat like enrolling your child in contact sports like football, soccer, basketball, etc. For these reasons you must be aware that "sports related" injuries such as soreness, sprains, strains or even joint injuries can occur. While we at Fon Jon pet care center do monitor the level of activity, it is impossible to control all situations or to know what are the athletic limitations or predisposed genetic conditions of every pet. For this reason, we can not assume liability for injuries that a pet may cause to itself or another pet while engaged in these activities. Please keep this in mind especially if your pet is older, (a good rule is the 1 to 7 ratio, 1 year in a dogs life it equal to 7 years in a persons life, therefore a 7 year old dog would be akin to a 49 year old person).
While interactive play may sound fun for all pets it can be very demanding physically and we ask that you take careful consideration of all these factors before enrolling your pet in these programs. Thank you for your consideration.
